About Andover Counselling & Therapeutic Services

Andover Counselling & Therapeutic Services is run by Katie Manson. ACTS’s journey started during Covid when the theatres closed. Having worked as an actor/facilitator/youth theatre director/teacher, Katie had the opportunity to reflect on her career. Despite accolades for her productions, Katie realised it was the process not the performances that inspired her. In her theatre work Katie found the most joy in meeting new people and joining them on their transformative journey as they developed as performers and, more importantly, people. This is why Andover Counselling & Therapeutic Services is, fittingly, known as ACTS. Although it was nearly called Cocoon Counselling, because Katie is committed to providing a safe place to support your transformation and enable you to step into the next stage of your life.

Working inclusively is vital for Andover Counselling & Therapeutic Services, this also means financially, which is why the groups are such an important part of our work. If we could provide our work for free we would love nothing more but this is our livelihood.

Katie Manson - counsellor at Andover Counselling & Therapeutic Services

Operating ethically is incredibly important, so being a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and working to its framework is something that is very important to us. As part of this membership we commit to paying and engaging in clinical supervision, keeping confidentiality at the forefront of our work and being reflexive practitioners. We have to ensure we have 30 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) a year, something you will see from our qualifications page we always aim to exceed.

We will not over schedule the work we do so you will not cross paths with other 1:1 clients in order to maintain confidentiality. This also enables time for note taking, we don’t make notes in session as that can be a barrier to connection but keeping confidential notes is a BACP requirement. After our session we will make time to reflect on our work together which is vital to enable you to get the very best service in the time we are working together. Sessions have been thoroughly thought through, reflected upon afterwards and all resources sourced. Therefore how many clients we can see throughout the day is limited to make sure you are getting the best quality, most ethical service possible, while us holding the importance to be as affordable to all as possible.
